first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Educational Foundation’s 2018 Joanne Benton WEF Walk was a tremendous success.On Halloween, students and staff at the Boutwell Early Childhood Center, Wildwood Early Childhood Center, Shawsheen Elementary School, Woburn Street Elementary School, North Intermediate School, and West Intermediate School participated in the popular fundraiser.Hundreds dressed in costumes and paraded around their school buildings, taking a 30-minute break from the classroom to enjoy some exercise and fresh air. Many students received pledges from family and friends leading up to the walk.“We raised approximately $10,000,” announced WEF Vice President and WEF Walk organizer Jen Mason. “They proceeds will go towards supporting requests from Wilmington’s teachers and administrators through out grant programs.”Mason noted the WEF Walk was recently renamed in honor of the late Superintendent Joanne Benton. Benton was instrumental in the launch of the fundraiser.The Wilmington Educational Foundation shared dozens of photos from each school’s walk on its Facebook page.Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook.
