NORTH HOLLYWOOD – Family members Wednesday saved the lives of a 31-year-old pregnant woman and her 3-year-old son who were pulled unconscious from a parked car with its engine running inside a detached garage, fire officials said. Firefighters responding to a 911 call found the woman and child at a home in the 7800 block of St. Clair Street. Both had a faint pulse and were barely breathing, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Their conditions had improved by Wednesday night and both were speaking to doctors. The boy was in critical condition following the ordeal and transported by helicopter to UCLA Medical Center, where he was placed in a hyperbaric chamber, Humphrey said. The mother was taken to another local hospital. AD Quality Auto 360p 720p 1080p Top articles1/5READ MORE‘Mame,’ ‘Hello, Dolly!’ composer Jerry Herman dies at 88 “She was doing laundry in the garage. For whatever reason, she had her 3-year-old in the car seat, and turned on the air conditioning,” said LAPD Sgt. Christopher Vasquez. Vasquez said she kept the garage door closed because she was going to be in there for a while, and didn’t want to leave the door open for fear of being robbed. The condition of her fetus was not disclosed Wednesday night, Humphrey said. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
