Amazon launches Echo Input in India for Rs 2,999

first_imgAmazon on Thursday, January 17 launched the Amazon Echo Input in India for Rs 2,999. The tiny hockey-puck looking device will be available on Amazon India’s e-retail platform and at Croma, Vijay Sales and other offline retailers starting today.”With Echo Input, we are giving users even more options to choose the best Echo device for their needs. Adding Echo Input to your existing speakers is the easiest way to begin your voice-first experience with Alexa,” Amazon Devices Director, Jayshree Gururaj said in a statement. As a part of the launch offer, Amazon is offering up to Rs 2,999 off on the purchase of Echo Input with a Bluetooth speaker. While customers who buy a JBL Go 2 speaker will get 50 per cent off on the purchase of Echo Input, on the other hand, customers who couple Amazon’s newly launched device with either Bose Soundlink Revolve speaker or UE Boom 3 speaker will get Echo Input at zero cost. For those of you who are confused about its functionality, here’s a simple explanation. The Amazon Echo Input is a device that essentially adds Alexa connectivity to your Bluetooth speaker. It connects to your ordinary speaker via a 3.5mm audio cable or Bluetooth connections and turns it into a smart speaker that can perform a host of tasks ranging between playing your favourite songs (all hands free) to checking for weather updates to setting alarms and reminders to booking a cab to even telling you sports score. So if you don’t have an Amazon Echo smart speaker at home, you can simply connect the Amazon Echo Input with your existing speaker and get the best of what Alexa has to offer. The best thing about the Amazon Echo Input is that it is small in size and in terms of dimensions, it is 0.5-inches tall and 3.1-inches wide. To put into perspective, it is smaller than the Amazon Echo Dot or the Google Home Mini smart speakers and it will disappear wherever you put it. However, unlike Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker, which comes with a built-in speaker, Echo Input plays audio through the connected speaker. On the flip-side, you can control Echo Input with your voice just like an Echo smart speaker. In terms of the overall design, just like the Echo Dot smart speaker, the Amazon Echo Input is made of a plastic body that features a matte finish. It sports an LED, an action button, a microphone on and off button and four array microphones on top. At the back there is a USB port that is used for powering the device and a 3.5mm audio output jack that can be used for connecting it with a secondary speaker.Notably, Amazon had introduced the Amazon Echo Input alongside the Echo Sub sub-woofer, Echo Wall Clock, Amazon Basics microwave oven, and Amazon Smart Plug at a special event that was held in Seattle last September. The company had launched the Echo Input in the US with a starting price of $34.99. And now, nearly four months after its international launch, the device is making its way to India.Meanwhile, earlier this week, Amazon also refreshed its FireTV Stick lineup in India. The Seattle headquartered tech-giant launched the new FireTV Stick with the all new Alexa remote in India with a starting price of Rs 3,999.advertisementALSO READ: | Amazon launches updated Echo Dot and Echo Plus in India, adds Echo Sub to listALSO READ: | Amazon launches Fire TV Stick with Alexa voice remote in India for Rs 3,999ALSO READ: | From a new Echo Show to a microwave, here’s everything announced at Amazon 2018 eventlast_img
