Our confidence level is going up,’ Howard said. “We’ve had some good practices and we’re in a good position right now. Next week is another big game; we can’t look past anybody.’ Early in the second quarter Elder scored on a quarterback sneak to give Muir a 13-0 edge with 2:08 left. The scoring drive was extended by Roby’s clutch 7-yard catch and run, tight roping the sidelines, on third- and-five. The third quarter, though, was when Elder and Roby really put on a show. Roby opened the Mustangs’ second half with another athletic play. Elder, who wasn’t hurried in the pocket for the majority of the game, found Roby down the middle, who in turn caught the ball and ran around the defenders for a 17-yard touchdown, setting the tone for the rest of the game. PASADENA — Muir High School (5-2, 2-0) stayed atop the Pacific League after shutting out last place Glendale High School (1-6, 0-2), 26-0 at home Friday night. There was no surprise as to who would do the damage for the Mustangs. Quarterback Forrest Elder and receiver Tyler Roby provided a potent combination that led the way to the easy victory. An early Dynamiters’ stingy run defense was not enough to hold down Muir for long. center_img 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
