LocalNews “Government is addressing the unemployment issue” says Skerrit by: – October 5, 2011 Tweet Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit.Dominica’s Prime Minister, Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit has dispelled critics which claim that the government is not doing anything to address the unemployment issue on the island. The Prime Minister says while government is working tirelessly to reduce levels of unemployment, they are happy to report that there are signs of major improvement in that area.He says his government stands confident in saying that their attempts are ongoing and showing signs of success, despite the difficulties imposed by the global financial crisis.“Often times you hear this government is criticized about the issue of unemployment, but no government have made more attempts, concrete attempts at solving the issue of unemployment in Dominica that this Labour Party government.”Government is also commending the efforts of the Agricultural and Industrial Development Bank (AID Bank) for working with the government to facilitate loans for the private sector.Mr Skerrit said that with AID Bank’s assistance, private sector firms are now better able to fund their businesses, thereby creating avenues for employment opportunities.“We have through the Aid Bank been seeking and finding cheaper financing for the private sector and I dear say that almost every single hotel that is being constructed here in Dominica is largely financed by the Aid Bank at a much cheaper rate than you will find in most banks in the region.” He is calling on Dominicans to remain focused at developing Dominica. He says his government will continue to put plans and strategies in place to bring economic and social development to island to benefit all citizens.“There will be the naysayers; there will be those who only want to see destruction and poverty brought down to Dominica. But this government is about improving the livelihood and the state of affairs in our country, and that we will do. This is the only government that has a plan and a vision to build Dominica. This is the only government and party that is committed to improving the lives of every single citizen, irrespective of who you are.”Dominica Vibes News 8 Views   no discussionscenter_img Share Share Sharelast_img read more
