Summer Health and Safety Information Available Online
Nova Scotians and visitors to the province can now getinformation on summer health and safety from one online source. The province’s Enjoy Summer Safely website provides tips on handwashing, food safety, road safety, avoiding heat illness andpreventing illnesses carried by insects and animals. The site also contains links to information on well watertesting, sun safety and a wide range of other summer topics. “More Nova Scotians are getting their information from theInternet these days, so the Enjoy Summer Safely site gives them away to access health and safety information provided by a numberof government departments without having to search severalsites,” said Dr. Jeff Scott, chief medical officer of health forNova Scotia. Several cultural and recreational events in the province thissummer will mean that more Nova Scotians and visitors will be onthe roads, enjoying the sun, great food, and possibly joiningcrowds of others for all that the province has to offer said Dr.Scott. “This website is a great spot for people to get useful tipsbefore they travel the province, or to stay informed if theyprefer to remain at home and enjoy their own communities,” saidDr. Scott. The website contains a fact sheet with tips on how to enjoysummer safely, as well as links to many government and relatedsites on specific summer safety topics.
